Shima + Sahai uses natures finest resources to create products that are nourishing and enriching for your entire body. Because these ingredients are derivatives from nature, preservatives are required to ensure the quality of the product remains the same from our door to yours. In products that run the risk of being exposed to, and/or contain water, like Scrubs and Crème’s, preservatives are required to extend the life of the product. Without preservatives, said products run the risk of growing harmful bacteria, fungi, mold, or a combination of the three. Butters: Natural ingredients made from shea nuts, cacao seeds and mango seeds form a protective barrier over the skin to keep the skin from losing moisture. Body butters are more hydrating for the skin because of the process by which they’re made. These seeds and nuts are ground or cold-pressed until the oils they carry are extracted. The crushed seeds and nuts are then heated until the fat and oils that are left behind appear. What you get from that is an emollient (substance that softens and soothes the skin) base that is used to create BodyButters.
- Cocoa Butter (Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter): extracted from the Cacao bean, cocoa butter is high in emollients, contains natural anti-oxidants, and melts at body temperature so that it absorbs into the skin easily. - Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii): extracted from the nut of the Karite Nut Tree (African Shea Tree or Mangifolia Tree) by crushing or boiling, shea butter promotes cell renewal in the skin and increases circulation.
